My favorite color is orange, and I have a personal goal of meeting one new person everyday. If I’m successful, then I also try to help one new person everyday. I firmly believe service should be at the center of what we do every single day. Therefore, I try to reward at least one person everyday for doing something kind for someone else, and I am always encouraging such action through everyday interactions and an amazing movement known as Actively Caring for People. I believe you must have determination and perseverance in order to succeed in life – otherwise, you’ll fall behind. Life is not nearly as much about what happens to you but more about how you react to it. This mindset guides my daily behavior. Perseverance conquers all. As you read my blog, you’ll learn more about me – and notice that I prefer to spend my productive time connecting with others and my (limited amount of) free time with my dog, a beagle-hound mix named Charlotte, and relaxing with close friends & family.
You should definitely know that I am a VERY big Virginia Tech fan. I was a student at VT from 2008-2014 for both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. I truly believe home is where the heart it is; and since it’s the longest time I ever lived in one place, that is definitely Blacksburg, Virginia! I am a life-long Hokie!
I’m very committed to my personal bucket list and am always actively seeking new and different ways to improve myself and my quality of life. From seeing all fifty American states before I leave the Earth, to committing to personal health and fitness, goals are a very big part of my life. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m very serious about crossing something off the ol’ list every once in a while.
There is nothing more important than working
hard so that you can play hard.
I’m a big fan of social media (particularly Facebook and Instagram) becuase I believe they can be used to connect with others in an efficient but still relatively authentic way (if you try!). I’m a firm believer that you shouldn’t post anything on the internet that you wouldn’t want your mom to see a scrapbook full of. Through social media I am friends with and can stay connected to several colleagues, family friends, family members, and random acquaintances, but I invite everyone I meet into most of my life because of my mission to connect with and help one new person every single day. I am an extremely social person and love to learn what makes others ticks. To learn what makes others tick, you have to be willing to give up some of yourself, too. You’ll find the links to some of my social media profiles at the top right corner of each page of the blog so that we may connect in that way.
I’m a firm believer in holding your word and remembering names – I hate forgetting a person’s name, and gladly invite those who I seldom forget to call me out on it in the event that I don’t recall it. I always practice the idea that “no matter what language you speak, a person’s name is the most beautiful sound.” This will set you on a one-way road to establishing a firm connection with someone before the conversation even begins.
I hope you enjoy the blog and that you will be my one new person someday soon. :)
